Hacking Dragon Quest Swords NTSC to PAL patch working?

I tried the patch here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=759...p;#entry1035140 to convert the game to PAL, but I believe it's 480p only as when I launch the game it loads a black screen and stays there. I was wondering if someone could make the patch 480i compatible?

why are you not doing it yourself with vmc

Is it a case of just extracting the main dol, and dragging the dol over to vmc to change it? I thought he had done more to it but didn't mention it. if it's that easy i'll try it, but i'd rather not burn a coaster if that's not going to work
