ROM Hack Dragon Quest IX DLC

I'm trying to figure out how to get the additional quests and any other DLC that was available in Dragon Quest 9. I currently have the US version retail cart, and a New 3DS with Luma CFW. I was hoping there was a way to do this without a DS save dongle. I thought that maybe I could backup my retail cart save using some sort of homebrew like JKSM, and use the DQIX save editor on my PC and somehow put the edited save back on my retail cart. I don't know if this would be the correct way or not. I also have an r4 flashcart which I could use...
If anyone knows of some good options, please let me know! Any help is appreciated : )

If JKSM works with DS carts then that should work, dunno if it does though as I've never tried.

You can use a Save Editor and TWL Save Tool, basically extract (and backup) your save file, pop it in the computer and edit it there, inject it back and you are pretty much done.

extract your save using that app they mention, and then use the altwfc (you have to patch a backup of the game and from a flashcard or desmume download the dlc) this works with several games: inazuma eleven, prof layton, yu gi oh, pokemon between others.
