I have a Shield TV and have tried emulating some Gamecube games via Dolphin. The graphics are fine, however the sound consistently stutters on every game I've tried. Can someone recommend some setting tweaks to allow for improved performance? I'm emulating 1 to 1, instead of upscaling the graphics by the way. Thanks.

Dolphin on the Shield isn't exactly flawless unfortunately. Some games run great while others don't. And as you say the smallest dip in framerate can make the sound stutter a lot.
Different games run better with certain settings so an overall "best settings" will be difficult to recommend. Make sure to run Vulkan and not OpenGL, and as you say, don't use a lot of enhancements.
In a lot of cases I've had better performance with the MMJ build of Dolphin.

Vulkan instead of OpenGL? I would have thought Vulkan would be less reliable, due to it being a newer codec.

Also I've never heard of the MMJ build. Is this some sort of user who is making his own individual developmental tweaks to Dolphin? I suppose I could try this build, in addition to Vulkan, with the hope of a boost in framerate reliability. Would that be my best option?

And any particular reason the Shield TV doesn't emulate Dolphin well. I wouldn't think it would be based on hardware capabilities.

I honestly don't have any good answers to your questions, I've just experienced better performance with Vulkan, but I'm sure someone here can give you a more technical answer.

And yes, the MMJ build is a tweaked version of Dolphin. I have both the official build and the MMJ installed and switch between them depending on games. Note that the MMJ build needs to be sideloaded to run.
And also make sure to use the official builds from the Dolphin website, and not from the Play Store as it is very outdated.

As for why the Shield doesn't run the emulator well, in terms of hardware I guess the CPU is the bottleneck.
However we've seen the chinese ports of Mario Galaxy and Twilight Princess run flawlessly so it should be possible!
Just "bad" optimization I guess?

I'll try running the MMJ build sometime within the next day or two. Also have you tried tweaking the emulated CPU clock speed? Or have you kept it at 100%?
