Does anyone know if when transferring DSiWare to the 3DS, if it deletes it off the DSi as well? I ask this because my brother has a DSi with Cave Story on it, and I want to transfer it to my 3DS, but he won't let me transfer it if it gets deleted from his DSi. So does anyone know? And if not, then can you post an answer after the update for the 3DS comes out?

I don't think so, no. It wouldn't be fair to delete the DSiWare- making a choice sucks.

I'm pretty sure it does.

If it didn't, people would just transfer DSiWare that they don't own onto their 3DS.

Well using that same logic what if you first transfer your dsiware to your sd card, then transfer from your dsi to 3DS,then transfer from your sd card to Dsi?

yes the transfer removes it from the DSi/XL

it formats the DSi internal memory after transfer, copys all account information and all downloaded titles and leaves you with a completely clean DSi/XL

so you can sell it on and if you go onto the market again you have to create a new account

It also is supposed to restart the save data, so if you are planning on moving your 100% Cave Story then don't be surprised when it's all gone. I made a backup copy on my SD card for a few games (thankfully all my games are either not far in or don't use level saves like DR Mario) just to see if maybe I could pull some magic out that way.

You can't. If you're on DSi System 1.4.2, the transfer to SD doesn't copy the save files over for any game, whatsoever. Blame Sudokuhax.
(not that i'm okay with it, it's fucking draconian as hell, but them's the facts)

I keep reading we will lose our save data. Anyone know if you can copy save data to the SD Card?

On the system. You download a transfer app from DSiWare store to transfer stuff to the 3DS.

Wouldn't the safest be:
1. Backup games+saves
2. Transfer games over
3. Try out the game and save
4. Replace the save file with the old one

Unless they changed the save format just becasue of sudohax...

what it called? and where is it
I don't know what it is called. I assume it will be in the DSiWare shop as of the 3DS update launch or on Thursday when the eShop is updated.

I remember reading the browser and the transfer app won't be available til 24 hours after the shop opens in some countries.
