I don't see the point in having a camera on a video game device. I think past experiences have shown that it was a gimmick that didn't have a real use.

The gameplay ideas need to come first. It shouldn't be let's add a camera and see what the developers can come with...
should be the other way round
It should be a little bit of both. The manufacturer should have some ideas and tech demos for the new feature, and then users and developers find new ways of using it once they get their hands on it and start fiddling, they shouldn't limit themselves to what the manufacturer has come up with.

What I would really like to see from a camera is head tracking used for motion parallax effects, provided they use it sparingly and not beat us over the head with it until it's dead and we're sick of it, like they do with every other new feature.

I just want to know if my gameboy printer will be compatible.

I kid, but I can't think of any games that have even attempted to use the cameras beyond AR stuff. The pseye and kinect use cameras in a very different way, obviously, and aren't terribly relevant. I'm guessing nintendo isn't going to try and do more 3d. Clean slate and all that maybe.

As there's no need for any cameras, and certainly ain't a selling point, i'd imagine it'd help them cut down on unnecessary waste of space. maybe?

I know nintendo is not known for their camera , but i wonder if they decide to exclude that function to prevent qr code hacks like cubic ninja .

Actually, yes.. Wii U had one so Nintendo is known for their camera. Nintendo switch... it's a no but perhaps connect to smart mobiles, who know. :)

Cameras are so cheap for the 10% of people that want one ... They'll put one in.

You need a camera to play that Raiders game !!!!!

Why do people keep getting the idea that it'll connect to your phones? Nintendo has always used proprietary operating systems...I don't see how that would connect to android /iOS...

I believe they will have smartphone things for Switch.

I don't see one. Do you? Even so it's hard to imagine a nintendo console without one after the DSi, 3DS and WiiU.
USB camera?

Having a Camara is useful, Scanning QR codesnis what made homebrew possible in the 3ds and I use it everyday scanning Pokémon qr codes in SuMo :P
But then you can only use it in tablet mode and that can be a pain.

(All that getting up and walking a whole 10 METRES just to scan a QR code)
