Hey everyone! If this is a stupid question, please don't roast me lol >_< I really haven't seen any other threads on this, but I am currently in the process of trying to recover my very old Nintendo account after losing access to the email that it is registered to. At first they said that all they needed was a transaction ID for a Nintendo purchase from my bank. I provided that, but now that are asking me for screenshots of my global IP address and the screen that shows my serial number. The problem is that my Switch is modded and said screen just shows a bunch of zeros at least on CFW. SO, I thought maybe I could load into OFW to see if it shows it there, but I can't do that because of an issue that I have no idea how to fix :/. My Switch is already banned btw, but should I take a risk and send them the screenshots that i took while in CFW anyway and risk permanently losing access to my Nintendo account? Does Nintendo even care? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! :)

This already sounds a bit suspicious. Nintendo Support will never ask for information besides your console serial number. (Let alone images.)

Additionally, make extra sure you're using the official Nintendo Support website. Calling them using the number provided on the support website for your region would be your best bet to rectify this issue. Good luck!

That's what i thought, but I called the official Nintendo support line directly from the website and all of their correspondence has been from the official Nintendo support email address. There's no way I would give any information to anyone who I suspected wasn't legit. I really don't know why they would asking for all that though.

I see.
but I can't do that because of an issue that I have no idea how to fix :/.
As for this. Could you describe the issue? Along with any applicable steps to replicate it.

Don't send them the screen showing the blank serial number, they might just stop helping you for good.

You either want to get ofw working so you can get the necessary screenshot, describe what's going wrong here and see if the hive mind can help you get it working - or the other workaround I can think of is you could Photoshop your real serial number into the cfw screenshot :rofl2: - also making sure it doesn't show anything else incriminating like the Atmosphere version tag

Oh you could boot cfw, turn off wifi, then modify your config so the serial isn't blanked (assuming you haven't actually wiped it the old fashioned way and are just using Atmosphere's blanking function), then boot cfw again to get your screenshot. Then turn blanking back on & boot again before turning wifi back on.

Ofcourse, so there's a lot. I sent my Switch to a reputable modding service to have it mod chipped and everything seemed fine but I started noticing a lot of issues that weren't happening before. Like, force closes and freezing during games, specifically while saving for some reason. It also refuses to boot into OFW. It gets stuck on the Switch logo and I have to hold down the power button. I can't install anything to system memory anymore either without it crashing AND everytime I try to view my profile (where it shows the games you've played, friends list, etc.) it crashes without fail. Haven't been able to find help for any of it. I even contacted the modder and they have been no help at all :/

Omg lol I was totally thinking about that as soon as I saw those zeros, but then I tried to do the connection test it just keeps crashing I'm assuming due to the same issue causing me not to be able to run OFW :/

if they ask for serial, it's to compare with what they have on file for your account. so of course a blanked serial wouldnt get you anywhere

it's not clear if this is a new switch or if you've used your account on this switch before, if your account has never been logged onto this switch and/or you've never made purchases through that switch then it's unlikely they would give you access just for showing that serial anyway, because the serial wouldn't match anything that's on your account

I've used this Switch on my account before it was banned

To them it's broken/you no longer have access to it. You can't be the only one trying to recover an account with a broken switch attached to it. A picture of the physical serial number should do the job IMO.
Yes, I was thinking that too. If I can't get the issues fixed I'll just tell them that it can't turn on and see what happens.
