Gaming Does cartridges update the fw without user input?

if it's a mp game like mk or splatoon it usually won't let you run the cart until the update is applied. no it won't tell you what fw it applies instead go here

Ofc you have to verify, what if the switch is on low battery or you take out 'accidentally' the cartridge, that will result in a brick?

When you insert the cartridge and select the game to play it, a message pops up telling you that a firmware update is necessary for you to continue, if you don't accept, it takes you back to the main menu and that's it.
