A Let's Play (often shortened to LP) is a walkthrough of a video game including a commentary, in which gamers will normally record themselves playing a video game from start to finish, and comment as they proceed. The trend began at the video gaming section of the Internet forums of the comedy website Something Awful in 2006. The player would take screenshots as they advanced through the games and annotate them, as if keeping a journal as they played, posting the final results on the forums. This original process is known as a "Screenshot LP", differentiating it from the "Video LP" form which later emerged, that involves recording "playthroughs" of games with a video capture device whilst offering an audio commentary uploading the result to a video-sharing website, the most popular being YouTube.

You can judge a game a lot better with actual gameplay instead of a trailer. So Let's Play video are very nice asset to Youtube.

Nah. Too boring for me to watch. The only one I watched was Cloud (something forget the rest of his name) playthrough of I Wanna Be The Guy. First time I seen a LP and I fell in love with the game after that.

There are games that I watch let's plays off (voted what's a..... , caus I thought it was about something else)

one good reviewer can be TB (totalbisquit)

I don't really watch them rather than just play them for something to listen to while I do other stuff.

If it's something fun to watch, I'll watch it. But that's rare.

Game Grumps, because those are LP's that are actually worth watching. I see a huge difference between a Let's Play, which is a video of someone playing the game with entertaining dialogue to accompany it and walkthroughts, which consist of the meticulous process of playing the game from cover to cover. The latter are supposed to be helpful, the former need to be entertaining first and foremost, not necessarily "complete", and Game Grumps works exactly according to those guidelines.

Not really, I'll occasionally watch a Nerd3 video now and again simply because I tend to think in the exact same way as him and very rarely watch the yogscast play a game because of how much they fail, but apart from that, no.

I watch SOME LPs...but only maybe an episode or two to see if I like the game or not. Or need a bit of a walkthrough. Typically i'll just watch gameplay videos though, because most LPers annoy the hell out of me.

For the most part, watching other people play games both annoys me, and bores me. I'd rather just play the game myself.

I watch a lot of LPs, either about games I can't play myself for some reason, or just think the person playing is really funny
...or has a fantastic voice >->

Yeah, I watch a ton of LP's on Youtube, although I actually make them myself so I find the people behind the video more interesting then the game itself.
