I am following the Rentry instruction for creating the DNS MITM default.txt file.

# Block Nintendo Servers
127.0.0.1 *nintendo.*
127.0.0.1 *nintendo-europe.com
127.0.0.1 *nintendoswitch.*
95.216.149.205 *conntest.nintendowifi.net
95.216.149.205 *ctest.cdn.nintendo.net

My SD/atmosphere/hosts folder already has the default.txt file with the following.

# Nintendo telemetry servers
127.0.0.1 receive-%.dg.srv.nintendo.net receive-%.er.srv.nintendo.net

Do I add the new texts to the existing default.txt file so it looks like what is shown below? I am using SysNAND so I keep the file name as default.txt.

# Nintendo telemetry servers
127.0.0.1 receive-%.dg.srv.nintendo.net receive-%.er.srv.nintendo.net
# Block Nintendo Servers
127.0.0.1 *nintendo.*
127.0.0.1 *nintendo-europe.com
127.0.0.1 *nintendoswitch.*
95.216.149.205 *conntest.nintendowifi.net
95.216.149.205 *ctest.cdn.nintendo.net

Atmosphere documentation states that the desirable configuration it to keep the default.txt unchanged and to add a separate hosts file for emuMMC or sysMMC.
https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/blob/master/docs/features/dns_mitm.md

Also, why are you using sysMMC instead of emuMMC?

Yes that will work

Will work, but it's not the recommended configuration.

If you want the same blockings for both sysmmc and emummc it it just add complexity with two different files. The best setup really depends on invidual preferences

You're saying the dev of atmosphere is wrong? LOL!

Also, what's the point of having both sysmmc and emummc and both of them being blocked?

I use only EmuMMC for CFW but I still have the file named default.txt. That way, if I by mistake start CFW in SysMMC then Nintendo will be blocked to protect me from a ban

I was not aware of the Atmosphere dns mitm documentation. You are right. It would be cleaner to leave the default.txt file alone and add a new file sysmmc.txt (in my case) to the hosts folder. The Rentry dns mitm instruction needs to be updated because as of 0.18.0, Atmosphere automatically create a default.txt file with the redirections.

I mean, if simply booting CFW in SysMMC were a bannable offense, blocking connections wouldn't save you, you'd still eventually get banned once you go to ofw and the logs are sent, unless you restore a clean nand backup. Fortunately, that's not the case.
