Hardware DL games and the Wii

I'm a little paranoid about my Wii and the whole theories about dual layered mediums causing stress on the lens, as its not technically designed to read the second layer.
Im considering getting Brawl, but as it has a WiiKey installed, sending it to Ninty for any repairs will be pointless if i ever want to see my console agian.
Will Brawl cause the lens to wear faster, or am I just safe to assume that its just paranoia playing here?

Why not make a DVD5 rip? Runs just as well, minus a few movies...

I think it's not such a big problem. There is nothing special about double layer discs, all movie dvd's are like that and dvd-players have been able to play them from beginning. And the wii's dvd drive is just like any other.
