My 9.2 O3DS is constantly nagging me to update. Is there any way to stop this, and if so, is there any way to prevent it from recurring?

You could try the temporary Recovery Mode trick.

Is Nintendo bothering you with those annoying update prompts that pop up on your screen and ask you to update? This means that your 3DS downloaded an update and it will keep on asking you to update until you do. This can be dangerous on sysnand if it pops up and you accidentally click yes. This guide will be about how you can get rid of this "Update nag" and keep your 3DS safe from updating.

Possible causes for downloading the update:
    1. One way for sure is by putting your 3DS in sleep mode while your wifi is turned on.
    2. Having an internet connection on the 3DS itself is risky enough, especially for the N3DS.

    How to remove update nag:

    Method 1
Before turning on your 3DS, press and hold L+R+A+Dpad UP then power on the 3DS while holding these buttons. This will bring you to the update screen don't be alarmed. Now exit the update screen and the 3DS will reboot to sysnand. The update nag should be removed, but you can still possibly download it again. Use this method as much times as you need to. It's not often to get an update nag.

    Method 2
First remove your SD card from your 3DS and power it on. Go to settings on sysnand, then other settings. On the 4th page choose format system. This will reset your 3DS and make it fresh again. Just set it up again as you would. Turn off your 3DS and put back in the SD card.
If you're a 4.2-4.5 user, then you'll need to redo the blue card exploit. You should be able to boot into emunand like normal. Everything should be the same except the update nag is gone. This is also temporary and another update can be downloaded.

    Method 3

Block the update url from within your router.

Every router is different. Googling your router model should give you insight on how to block the update url from within your router.

    Method 4

    1. On sysnand, go to settings, then internet settings.
    2. If you've created a connection on emunand, you'll notice that it also created a connection here on sysnand. You can delete that connectin from sysnand and it will remain on emunand.
    3. Create a new connection and choose ANY router that's encrypted.
    4. Enter 1 line of random digits for the password, and if it works, it will test the connection and fail. You can exit the setup and you'll have successfully created one false connection.
    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you have three false connections.

With this done, your sysnand will NEVER be able to download an update or connect to the internet. While your emunand will still have it's one connection that you created before. When you create a new connection in emunand, it can't copy to sysnand anymore.
There's pretty much no way to install an update on sysnand, unless you put in a game cartridge and you choose to update. Be sure to use classic mode for playing retail cartridges.
