Does anyone know why certain games prompt you to copy the game to SD when using USB Loader GX? It doesn't matter which version of DM I use, either.
but it does matter which version of the loader you are using.
Please do not use v3.0, update to r1203. If you are using the full channel, launch USBGX from HBC or forwarder instead.

V3.0 only supported DML + SD card, even if you install DM the loader was programed to prompt "copy to SD" every time.
if it's game dependent, maybe you have some on SD and other on USB, that's why you don't have this prompt for all of them.

If anyone here is having trouble getting DM to detect and use their USB HD, make sure it is in MBR and not GPT! Mine was in GPT, and while it worked fine in USB Loader GX, Dios Mios apparently didn't like that. I followed this guide and suddenly it all works! http://www.ehow.com/...-mbr-linux.html (A Linux guide, I'm sure there are other ways to do it in Windows, or you could use a Live CD) Thought I'd share the tip, because it sure took me a while to figure out this one. Thank god, no more copying GC games to my 4 GB SD, now I have 250 GB to work with!

Checked my hdd and it is MBR and it fails to boot sometimes.

Edit 2

Dunno if I am just on tear with good luck but if I go to GC mode in Wiiflow, click on the game I want to play and wait for the GC boot sound to stop and maybe half a second more, then start the game it has been booting games first time.

I was wrong about this, it still fails to load sometimes.

like I explained, it's a random problem, so trying with another loader might looks like it was the solution, but it was just luck ;)
You have to get lucky and hope that your drive send the correct information for DM to mount it.

I don't know if it can be fixed in DM (enough RAM?), or if the loaders can force a specific mounting method for the drive's next boot, or if it's related to how the drive was used/shutdown last time it was used.
I didn't find any pattern while testing with mine :(
(except maybe "wait few mins before rebooting the Wii if it shutdown", but it could be luck too)

I have a Hard Drive that didn't run DM for some reason despite it running Wii games fine, it just won't show up the GC Loader screen at all, however copying to SD worked fine, would this fix this issue? I can't test it because I already used that hard drive for something else since it didn't work for DM but I can try buying another one sometime if this works!

Also how can I do this on Windows?

I guess it depend on the drive capacity.
MPT is required for any drive >2TB.

If your drive is up to 2TB and use GPT, then you can convert it to use MBR.

Edit:
I found this on the first google result:

All my games on the HDD which doesn't make sense to me, but I'll try the other version.

SSX 3 PAL don't works via DM v2.2 / v2.3 from USB in my NTSC-U console. The game always freezes showing a green screen after the "Dios Mios" logo. I use DM Booter v30 loader and tried all of formats (GCReEx / DiscEX) and settings.
However, the game works fine with DM Lite r59mod from SD.
Any ideas or comments?

Thanks Cyan, I should've thought about googling it myself, this doesn't seem complicated, my hard drive is 500GB and is removable, can that be converted to use MBR?

I choose to ignore your facts and reality! It is clearly some sort of gremlin that lives inside Seagate external hdds and I am of the firm belief that you just need to perform the correct superstitious routine to stop the gremlins from affecting the hdd.

A fairly easy way to check if a drive is GPT or MBR is to check in disk management
Bb457110.f12zs01_big(l=en-us).jpg
Up in the top part on the right it says what each one is.
Also, I would think that it needs to be a "basic" disk and not a "dynamic" disk to work (left side in the bottom part). There will be a difference in color, too.
(A primary partition is what you need. It will be blue)

All I can say is I am one lucky MoFo cuz I have a Seagate Free Agent GoFlex 1TB and I've been able to use it for launching everything including DM and Devo. Though 95% of the time I use DM.

The trick is to befriend the gremlins by owning your own Gizmo :P

@sdoc96 WHich Pacman game is that in your signature?

Edit: I just finished checking my hard drives, including the one that didn't run DM, they're all MBR format!

DM Lite v1.5 or v2.2 works but all DM versions and DM Lite v2.3 don't work.(green screen)

Sorry for bothering but I have a technical question, I may buy a new 500GB hard drive for storing data, so I may use it for Wii instead and use the one I have for Wii to use for my data if it works fine with Dios Mios, so which brand of hard drives do you recommend for me to get that works with Dios Mios and doesn't go to sleep mode? I can't order stuff online so instead I'll get them off the mall therefore if you can recommend more than one brand I'll be very thankful for I'm not sure which ones I can find there, thanks!

I hope others get in on this bit I can only recommend what has worked for me with DM. I have 2 Seagate Freeagent GoFlex 1TB each with a usb2.0 adapter and a 500 GB Seagate Freeagent Go USB 2.0 as well. If used with a USB3.0 adapter they DO NOT WORK, it's even problematic launching homebrew period.

I've used many drives since I've modded many many wii's and I've had the best luck with drives that are usb2.0 Seagate and WD. However some that are 3.0 backward compatible seem to have started to work better.

IMHO keep your receipt and if the drive doesn't work return it and get another one. Just tell them it doesn't work with your device but it's not faulty or that u just didn't like it. The reason shouldn't matter as long as u have the receipt you should get what U want. When u find one that works let us know what it was.

This a bit off-topic, but does anyone here uses ps2 --> gamecube adapter? My gamecube controller died and I was think of giving my old ps1 and ps2 controlers some use. Does anyone have experience with those, and their compatibility with diosmios?

works great with diosmios

"Tenho dois adaptadores e funcionam muito bem, os meus comprei no dealextreme, o único senão é que os botões não dão para configurar, mas com o tempo habituas-te."

Nice, thanks!
Is this the adapter model that you use? http://dx.com/p/play...r-adapter-21329

That's the adapter i bought.

"Foram esses mesmo que comprei"
