Hi there,

I stumbled over an active cooling grip with battery:
https://www.amazon.com/-/de/Empuñadura-refrigeración-Nintendo-accesorios-ventilador/dp/B07X9Z81S1/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1
Sure, it is not an official accessory for the switch, but I like the idea of
- extra cooling
- charging during playing (good for overclock to overcome the GPU 460MHz restriction)
(- slightly better grip when holding the console in the hand)

What I don´t like:
- made in China (could be good, could be bad)
- the lower vents in the switch are covered by the accessory

Has anyone tried this accessory out (or a similar one) and can tell if this it worth the money? Do you have real cooling effects? Does the battery work well?

I doubt it would actually keep the switch cooler during overclock. The fans might get a little extra air inside those lower vents, but it probably won't do much. It may be more effective to adjust your switch's fan speed instead.

It also looks like it is slow charging only? 5v/2a is USB-A power levels. Meaning if you overclock or play demanding games you'll still lose battery %. I had an old battery pack that did the same thing, it'll try to charge but the % still goes down until it dies. It gave me ~1 hour extra play time in BOTW.

USB-C with PD (power delivery) is the best way to power your switch on the go.

It's not too expensive though, so it might be worth testing. The grip itself might feel good and maybe the fans won't have to push quite as hard.

Here's a review of the fan grip:

It does seem to provide some cooling, I guess if you removed or modded the rear panel (cut some vents into it) of the Switch, it would make it more effective.

Wish he had used the system monitor overlay instead of a temperature strip. It might just be cooling the plastic cover. Like you say, modding or removing the cover would certainly make it effective.

I'm very interested to see someone do this. Get an extra back plate, cut holes where the fans are, maybe put some mesh to help block dust. Hmm.. I may have to try this someday.

Didn't see very usefull if you didn't live on zones where the air are so hot (and still useless I guess, because if air are hot didn't help to get cold), usually, except with some games (Splatoon for example) the Switch didn't get so hot on portable mode, it's on docked mode when it get more hot and where fans can help a bit, but not so much.

Anyways without overclock, the Switch never gona burn, the device have a generous safe voltages to avoid any damage and have protection on overheat.

As adition, I never trust on third party energy accesories, on the first year of Switch a lot of devices get damaged for use third party chargers or docks.

Couple that with replacing the thermal paste and the Switch would be capable of handling any portable overclocking anywhere (without the obnoxious internal fans). If it had PD charging, it would be a definite consideration..
