so and xbox 360 - new - no network connection or wifi device
*yeah - boo hoo xbox, right?

well....
a laptop (and no wi fi access)
*boo hoo hoo laptop...wait...ummm nevermind

and an iPhone

iTunes was on laptop

iPhone with PNA-NET - allows internet tethering using iPhone on AT&T network

plug xbox 360 into ethernet port

bridging the Apple iphone network connection to ethernet - xbox 360 to DHCP

bingo - on xbox live - subscribed to free xbox gold 1 month account

playing head to head - and laptop charging up the iphone

hey...it was cool... like being in a McGyver episode..with beer and pot

It worked

iphones have a 5gb monthly internet cap like every other american 3g device, couldn't you connect to wifi instead and (if you're jailbroken) spoofed your wifi into 3g? (forgot the name of the app that lets you do that, but it exists)

It was more of a proof of concept (on beer)

"Couldn't you connect to wifi instead and (if you're jailbroken) spoofed your wifi into 3g? (forgot the name of the app that lets you do that, but it exists)"
3g unrestrictor is the name of the app
There was no wi fi to tap off of so we tethered the iphone and used AT&T's backbone

"Though you better be wary not to get over charged with using the internet tethering, keep your eye on that. "
Yup - but it was no where near 5 gigs - we didnt download any content - just played some head-to-head games

"Yeah it works. Useful for those not wanting to waste $70-80 on a wireless adapter for the 360. "
yup - if there was wifi router, we could have used the laptop and bridged to the wireless router.
This could have given us wireless N if it were available
