Hello everyone

I recently bought online a new motion plus controller for using the vwii.
The controller works fine until I open d2x-cios-installer. The controller turns off and first when I turned it back on there was an error saying "bad control character".
I searched first online for a fix and saw someone saying you need to download latest version of d2x-cios-installer for motion plus to work, but after I tried that the error didn't show up anymore but my controller still does nothing when I open d2x-cios-installer.

Anyone knows what can fix it?

Sorry if my grammarly is bad I'm not English.
Thanks in advance all.

if you already tried an updated version of the installer, I'm afraid the problem is your controller.
it's probably not an official one (not a nintendo controller, but a third party).

It might not even work with other homebrew as most homebrew are based on the same compatibility tools and libraries.
did you try other homebrew? WiiMC, or WiiXplorer, or an USBLoader, or even a game?

It's not a official controller, tried to play games on my Wii U with the controller that worked. When open usbloader the controller works but didn't test it for wii game since i need to install d2x-cios. I can use the wii controller in the homebrew menu. I downloaded WiiMC and WIIXplorer if u can say me what to use it for I can try that maybe. Tried to open d2x-cios in WIIXplorer but that didn't work either.
Another homebrew didn't I tried yet, but I'm gonna try others maybe that will fix it.

thank you for your tests.
So, it's only in d2x installer, it works with other hombrew.

which version of the installer are you using?
on Wii, I usually provide 3.1 https://www.mediafire.com/download/5ggh53tj9hhp1tr/d2x-cios-installer-3.1-v6-v7-v8-v10-wii.7z
on vWii, it's 2.2mod http://www.mediafire.com/file/d6cr1...2.2mod+by+FIX94-v10-beta52_beta53alt-vWii.zip

you probably use the same versions already, so I don't know how to fix it without using another controller, sorry.

For your info,
WiiXplorer is a file explorer/FTP/Manager/launcher (but you already found)
WiiMC is a media player

I think its the version I found on wii.guide (sorry cant post links yet)
Tried the version 2.2 but still nothing, the error just shows back up.

But found that ModMii can do the same job as d2x-cios-installer by downloading the wads you need but for some reason when i use a wad installer to install the wads it won't work (tried YAWNN, Multi Mod Manager, Pimp My Wii, WiiMod). I tried placing the wads in my wad folder of my sd card and the root of it both didn't work.

Followed this guide:

  • Download and install ModMii v4.8.1 or higher on your PC. Download link: ModMii for Windows
  • From ModMii's Main Menu, enter "4", then "beta"
  • Select the d2x beta you want to build
  • Mark some or all d2x cIOSs for download (i.e. "d2x")
  • Enter "D" then "Y" to build d2x beta cIOSs\WADs
  • Install cIOSs using a WAD Manager - i.e. WiiMod\MMM\YAWMM (available on ModMii's Download Page 2)

don't try pimp my wii please. you'll make things worse.

If you want a wad manager, you can use this one :
https://github.com/FIX94/Some-YAWMM-Mod/releases
be sure to extract all the content to the folder, not just the dol. you need the meta.xml or it will not work.

you also need to launch it from HBC 0.8 or newer (older hbc or the one using IOS61 instead of 58 won't work).
If you are on Wii, go to your HBC, press home button, look at the top. it should tell you IOS58.
on Wiiu, there's no such problem, it always uses 58.

I'm using a Wii U, but i downloaded it and it launches tries to patches things but fails at one patch (hash_check) and then it closes and goes back to the homebrew menu.
If it's hulpfull I made a video me trying to open it.

I don't remember if Modmii works for vWii !
You shouldn't do that or you'll mess your console.

vWii need to patch IOS using officially installed IOS as base, not using wads or they will be badly installed, even if it generates "vWii" version of the WAD. but it's highly possible the modmii generates Wii version, therefore you shouldn't use Wii specific tools on vWii ! nor follow Wii guides for vWii !

sorry for wrong advice before, I didn't check which forum section it is.

No problem, then I will just ask someone with an official wii remote to use it for using d2x-cios-installer, just need to wait for it since no one may go outsidde u know.

But thanks for the support!
