I'm pretty much set on switching to PS3. My Xbox 360 gathers dust and I only really play it for 2 exclusives that I'm done with. That all said. I've got a Pro 60GB console and roughly 12 games. Does anyone have any suggestions where the best place to get the most for the games? (So wish there was a way to trade 360 versions of games for ps3 versions..)

And I suppose also, which type of PS3 is suggested. I can get an 80GB ps2 compatible refurb or a 120 or 160GB slim refurb for the same price.

That's pretty much what I thought. Are there any models I should be looking out for failure wise? The slim 120, 160, and 250 are all within $10 of each other and I don't understand why.

Slims are pretty good compared to the Phat models in terms of failure rate. So in the end, get a good console (the more the space, the better). If you want to possibly hack the console some time, get a console model with pre 3.56 firmware.

Focus on CECH-20xxA and CECH-21xxA (available in 120 GB or 250 GB), these two models are guarantee downgrade-able with E3 flasher. Try to get one with 3.55 or below.

If not you can downgrade yourselves (buy E3 flasher), or ship your PS3 to someone for a fee.

Alright, probably going to go with the 120 then. Hopefully I can trade in enough to get it for cheap.

Right so, got the 120. Um. Small text in games. Sucks. So bad. I just spent money on this ps3, now I have to get an hd monitor or tv. Generally what is suggested? If tv what kind, I know there's plasma, lcd,, and led

Budget? Size? Can't tell you anything till then.

I guess something around 200. I don't exactly have money to blow on a huge tv. But I do realize it's 2013 and I need something better than my 19 inch crt that's roughly 11 years old. Is input lag such an issue that I should lean toward a monitor?

Lag will be an issue on 120hz TVs, avoid them like the plague for gaming.

$200 budget? That's not going to buy you jack shit, sorry. It may get you a 20-something inch at Walmart with a shady manufacture, that's about it.

some good monitors could be had for under 200 but problem is the size is only in the 25" range which would seen too small for you.
