Yay ! A Post in a long forgotten section (god how I loved the real "GBA"temp days - good times)

Anyways:

I wondered if anyone has undertaken the project of scanning all e-reader cards and putting them online as image files apparantly they can be used that way:

I'd be interested in such project.

If anyone has any card scans etc. to offer I'd be happy to get such project underway.

All you'd require is a flatbedscanner (or maybe a high res camera) and you should be good to go)

I only have a handful of the most common cards so they're probably not of much use but I'd love to see this project pick up a little steam.

Well, if you have flatbed or a good cam, why not try scanning them, print them out and see if they would work ?

I heard 600dpi or if that doesn't work 1200dpi using with a printer works well.

My printer is rubbish. It's a cheap and nasty AIO thing that cost £40 about 2 years ago.

I'll give it a try though. It may take a few days as I'm pretty busy but I'll definitely give it a blast.

Do you have a decent collection of cards yourself? I'll dig out my cards and post a (short!) list here. Maybe we can collate your's and mine and see what we have?

Well first of I got to get myself an E-reader for testing purpose, I wonder if an EU E-reader can read USA cards aswell...

I don't think the E-Reader was released anywhere in Europe. I know for sure that it wasn't out in the UK. If there is a Euro version I doubt it would read cards from other regions as the JPN an US readers are incompatible as it is.

Yes, it's all-but completed. No-Intro maintains a .dat with the checksums for the data on the cards. Distributing said dumps is illegal but the checksums are not.

Read through everything here.

e-Reader dotcodes contain duplicate blocks of dots - a few blocks can be damaged and the card can still be read. The dotcodes can be converted to their raw data (*.raw) and then from there to decrypted binary files (*.bin).

The dumps are out there, but No-Intro cannot legally distribute them. I question your ability to Google - it was a little difficult to find e-Reader information but definitely not impossible. And whoever wrote that article doesn't know what they're talking about. Clearly the cards listed in the above links are the rarest e-cards.

The song playing on that site its "[size="-1"]Yo Ho, It's The Pirates Life For Me!" You really wonder whether those dumps are legal or not? I don't care, and Nintendo doesn't care (e-Reader is very old and unwanted)[/size], but GBAtemp cares about sharing illegal stuff.

My question is "what is the most decrypted an e-Card can be?" I asked on the No-Intro forums a year ago, and the answer I got never worked for me. But if I recall correctly, it involved merging the e-Cards together using the command line (?) and running that through one of Caitsith2's VPK tools to get a .vpk file that is fully decompressed / decrypted. Then you can modify the contents of the card.

BTW: What would decrypting that card achieve ? Writing your own applications already IS possible.
What would modifying the cards content achieve ? Can't think of good examples...
