Commodore To Return Making Keyboard PC's

We've always had a soft spot for Commodore computers. Compact, economical, and robust for their day, they were ubiquitous throughout the 1980s. Unfortunately, the machine's glory days are long behind it, with little more than some gaming rigs and the tireless work of Ben Heck to keep the flag flying. But all that could change if Barry Altman has his way. As President and CEO of the newly minted Commodore USA, he's spent the better part of a year crawling through the arcane red tape necessary to get the rights to the Commodore name. And now? With any luck, later this year the company's monumental advertising campaign will have had its effect ("something like you've never seen in your life," as Altman described it to us on the phone this afternoon) and you'll be able to have your very own keyboard computer with the Commodore logo slapped on for good measure. Presumably based on the Cybernet ZPC-GX31, the exact configurations and pricing will all be spelled out soon enough. In the meantime, hit the source link to see for yourself. And please, guys -- make us a beige one, will ya?

Technically they'll just be like a laptop only without the screen. Yeah its pretty much just for nostalgia reasons to why most people would buy one.

I dream of the days where we have a modern Commodore style computer rocking the computer gaming world like they did in the 80's and early 90's, Macs and PC's just lack a certain charm for me.

i wasn't around at their time, but whatever they were, im sure they were much more fun to play these days. Im from the early 90 's so i think i just missed them. Whatever the games were, they just were all about making you have fun. Wasn't interested with teh graphiccs and what not. Simple and Fun.

Games are one thing but I will buy a bunch if they had a decent fault finding/debugging/hacking capabilities. I miss docking stations.

On the other hand I have witnessed them try to relaunch themselves several times over the years, hope they do better this time.

I remember playing my first video games on a Commodore 64.

Not very good tho, must have been when I was like 3 years old.

ahh commodore type load LOAD enter - press play on tape - found game - 15 - 30 minutes to load, play it for about 10 mins than shut it off

i even remember the disk command load '*' 8,1

AmigaOS 3.x freak for the moment, but with a BlizzardPPC incoming

A1200/030 here, with a Apollo 040 to repair (can't find any time...).

I'll love to try AOS4.0 Classic as soon as I'll be able to repair that BlizzardPPC

@raulpica: AmigaOS4 Classic is not that fun imo, most programs made for it requires faster CPUs and more RAM (well on the BlizzPPC you can have more RAM than on the CSPPC at least).

Yep, read about it. That's a real shame. Oh well, I'll wait for X1000, since SAMs cost a little bit too much for my tastes.

Nothing like the old C64 being able to code in basic straight from its OS.

definitely for nostalgia but its such an important factor tht games like ff6 advance, chrono trigger, ff4 DS and the likes were really successful (check out gamefaqs for proof though i just mentioned SE titles)
infact nostalgia is so important that they even released a game by the name nostalgia on the ds and tht even with nostalgic FFX components

Besides, what's the point? I don't really regret having my keyboard attached to my computer by a cord.

I wonder how many laptops are only being replaced because they had keyboard death?

I LIKE that all my valuable expensive PC components are behind a case and protected from 'oops ahh fucking shit!!'.
