hey there, sometimes i like to make custom forwarder wads for single rom loaders, homebrew or games. what's a good way to choose the title ID for these items (smash remix is N5RX for example), and avoid known conflicts, particularly with single rom loaders? thanks.

If you want to create accurate title IDs for channels then the first letter (the system code) should be H and the 4th letter (the region) should be A for region free, P for PAL, E for NTSC-U, J for NTSC-J, K for NTSC-K or W for NTSC-T.

HACA = Mii Channel
HABA = Wii Shop Channel
HAFA = Forecast Channel
HAAA = Photo Channel

A forwarder is a channel, so technically N5RX is wrong because it identifies as an N64 game and the region doesn't make sense. That shouldn't cause any major issues though.

I just choose a random id, like TACO or DFFE
And that'll work, but I can't recommend it. Especially if you might share your forwarders online.

Prior to USB Loader GX r1280 I kept getting bug reports because channels with random IDs would cause the loader to display the wrong region info. Obviously I come up with a way to detect most of these problematic channels and mask the problem, but it'll never be a perfect solution while people are using random IDs instead of valid ones.
