Hi, I'm discovering the joys of owning a Wii in the year of 2026. Better late than never. Been playing the NTSC Virtual Console version of Star Fox 64 a bunch, and there's this annoying audio distortion that's hard to ignore throughout the game, like the audio is crackling. It's most noticable in the end credits. This video I found on youtube shows it off as well, so I know the issue isn't just on my end: (45:56 in case the timestamp doesn't work) I was surprised how nobody online seems to have discussed this over the years. Has anyone else noticed this or similar issues on other n64 VC releases? Is the cause known? Out of curiosity, I did try the PAL Lylat Wars release, and the audio was perfectly fine in that one.

I bought a wii today and i want to mod it so i can play backups.

I'm not sure what my driver version is. The serial number is LEH 196. (anyone with a similar serial?)

In the serial tracking it says:

There is a 50% chance that your drive chip is a GC2-D2C

There is a 50% chance that the pins on your drive chip are not cut.

Can you tell me whats my version without open the console?

If it is a D2C2 or a D2c whats the best modchip for it?

I think your around the third person in the past day to ask which is best for D2C/D2C2... From what I've gathered your best options are D2Pro or Wasabi V2.

Seeing as how you just bought it, *maybe* D2C2... As for the pins, I haven't a clue.

Don't take my word for it though..
