Faye Wong covered a lot of western songs, including famously Dreams by the Cranberries
She is from Beijing, but her early career was in Hong Kong - and as such the first cover 梦中人 "dreamer" was in Cantonese - a light hearted song with similarities to the original. She later created a Mandarin cover 挣脱 "throw off, break away" which keeps the general structure, but is much darker in tone, and there is a question if you can really call it a cover purely (both released in 1994)
Below is a comparison of the lyrics of the two
Some choice comparisons:
Cantonese
Follow with a ten-minute kiss
Mandarin
Let’s end it, don’t linger
Cantonese
Never been this close to you
Mandarin
I thought my tears were worth it
Cantonese
Dream lover
Mandarin
Love is extinguished
Cantonese
For ten thousand minutes of your kisses
Mandarin
Waving goodbye to yesterday
