If you are on the firmware 11.4-11.6 i would get either the R4i Gold 3DS (RTS) (can play ds games if you flash it back) or R4i-B9S (if you do care about running ds games on it) both about the same price

you can get them both from nds-card you will have to send them a email about R4i-B9S they have them in stock just not listed on the site yet.

I wouldn't recommend something that isn't released yet. He would be annoyed with you if he bought it and found it didn't work yet (at least I definitely would be).

"Will be" does not help the user right now. We don't know how long it will take to make that cart compatible.
My suggestion is the R4i Gold. It doesn't require another system in order to flash it on stock OFW and can be restored to play DS games when you are finished. It's currently the cheapest method without another system

At the moment we don't have a public method to flash the dual-core into an NTRBoot cart. We also don't know how long it will take for this method to be released. We do however have a method for the R4i Gold and works perfectly fine on the current OFW. Thus there is no reason to suggest the dual-core over the R4i Gold, until a flasher is made for it.
