Code Veronica in 2027 and Zero in 2028. Where's Dino Crisis.

Capcom's upcoming, unannounced Resident Evil Zero remake will reportedly launch in 2028 and feature the lead actor from Square Enix's Guardians of the Galaxy video game.

Last year, IGN verified a report by noted Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem that claimed Capcom would continue remaking its classic Resident Evil back catalog with new versions of both Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero in development.

Now, MP1st has suggested that the Code Veronica remake is targeting a Q1 2027 release window, while Resident Evil Zero will follow a year after. And there's word, too, of Zero remake's codename — "Project Chamber" — which is also listed on the resume of Far Cry 5 and Guardians of the Galaxy (video game) actor Jon McLaren.

This is interesting because I would have guessed that Resident Evil 5 would be next. This may explain why CODE: Veronica vanilla/X hasn't been ported alongside everything else. It's obvious these remakes are selling because they've gone ahead and announced two in one go.

Yes, we can finally find out what happened to Leon, since it is revealed that the Leon you play as is a B.O.W. clone.

You know, it's been a while since I've played the game, does it do an "unconscious, wake up" combo at any point in the story? If so, that'd likely be where we switch from real to clone.

I know it's non-canon, but the whole thing intrigues me. That stinger ending stays with you, since Leon's fate is left unknown.

Where's Dino Crisis.
I'm not sweating over a Dino Crisis remake because the likelihood is decent that Capcom would entertain the idea.

The remake train is going to end eventually, but Dino Crisis could extend that ride. It's the type of game that'd fit nicely into the current RE engine. If I were Capcom, I'd do it before the RE games finished up, but from a corporate perspective, I think RE remakes are such guarenteed moneymakers that they wouldn't disrupt that for anything.

I wouldn't expect Capcom to remake 2 or 3, but that's a different problem for a different day.

If they are remaking Zero they should remake the GameCube Remake of Resident Evil 1 too. While they're at it, they should fix up Resident Evil 3 Remake too... it's too short and missing a bunch of areas and content.

Out of all the original mainline RE games, Zero for sure is one that needed one the most.
I'd say Survivor might be a very good one to get a remake for, but I don't see Capcom touching that one with a pole stick, so Zero is the best option no doubt.
Hope they really get rid of the cringy stuff and instead do the script justice.
Zero had really good potential but it is just an odd one before it all went south and they had to pseudo-reboot with RE4.

I'm out of the loop on RE0, since I never finished it. I've probably played about 10 minutes worth of it. It's definitely on my to-do list. To me, Capcom was firing on all cylinders back in the sixth gen, so I'm surprised RE0 has questionable content. What was cringey?

Huh if you didn't finish it I might as well not go into detail since it will spoil the game for you.
But yeah right when you fight the very first Leech Zombie, you can more or less tell what I find cringy :P

Hahaha, I'm not quite sure what there is to spoil. I did watch a video of the final boss and ending back in the day (I liked the visceral transformation: Evil scientist man coughs and boom, a new B.O.W. friend!) I didn't have a GameCube, and I wanted to be up to speed on my RE happenings. You can go into some detail if you want, but I appreciate your care not to spoil anything.

Oh then I guess it's fine lol
But yeah Young Marcus was one of the major cringy parts of the game, at least for me.
I can get around Rebecca's dialogue, it's not that bad, but the whole Young Marcus singing opera is... irky.

There's a singing opera scene? In a Resident Evil game?

Does Wesker join in?

This is good and bad news! My brother is a big fan of the RE Series, especially Code Veronica, hopefully he'll still be alive to play that Remake, the Zero remake he might not be.
I dislike them announcing stuff years off, like that, giving us hope....

I'm sorry to hear your brother's having a difficult time. I hope he does get to enjoy the remaining Resident Evil remakes. Beyond CODE: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero, there aren't many games left in the series to redo. Maybe 1 and 5, and from there, Capcom could choose to remake the latest ones.

By the time they make it all the way to Resident Evil 8/Village, it'll be time to remake (or at least remaster) 9.

Thanks and hopefully he'll be fine and doctors were just lying but they gave him until age 52 and he just turned 49! We praying they were wrong and his health gets better. So far he's a lot better than he was after his 4th stroke.

But I really wanted them to redo 5, so I could see a enhanced and updated version of Sheva! And hope they use the same actress to do her updated look, primarily for nostalgia reasons, and she's so beautiful and unique in her own terms of character design.

Yeah, the deprivation of oxygen that comes with a stroke may cause brain damage. Is he working on reducing the stroke factors? No smoking, no alcohol, healthy diet, physical activity, etc.?

Staying on-topic, I thought Resident Evil 5 was coming up on the remake train, and I think there were even rumors to that effect here on the forums. Whatever the case, I wouldn't expect an RE5 remake until at least 2028.

Our brother has never smoked or drank, he's a health fanatic, even the doctors after multiple test, kept saying he was perfectly healthy and couldn't understand why he kept having strokes.
They said it might have been stress related because of his job.
And you're right, his brain has pressure on it and he has to have some kind of decompression surgery or he'll die! But that his business to tell not mine.

Back on Topic! I don't think Capcom likes Sheva, she hasn't even returned in a single RE Animated Film or anything!
And the controversy around the game, when it came out about Chris killing African's SMH!
People find reasons to ruin good things!

I think Sheva came a bit late into the RE timeline. It can be argued that Capcom eventually started focusing more heavily on the franchise's legacy characters.

Chris Redfield made sense in RE5, since he's the backbone of the anti-Umbrella effort, and fans hadn't seen the character since CODE: Veronica nine years prior. (Wesker's appearance made sense because they kept writing him back in.) After that game, I stopped playing each new entry, so my understanding of the franchise's direction may be a bit off.

From the outside looking in, it seemed like Revelations 1 and 2, Resident Evil 6, and the remakes skewed in favor of the legacy characters. While RE7 and RE8 were mostly new stories, we still had cameos from Chris Redfield.

That reminds me, Revelations 2 looked distinctly fun. Did you happen to play through that one?

No one has any nostalgia for RE5.

Yes I completed Revelations 2 and Got both endings!
You have to play through multiple times, there are a couple of events, that change how the game ends.
