Hacking Can't update my Wiikey, suspecting clone "pics"

Something else is stopping the updates, probably something like one these reasons...... a badly assembled/faulty chip board layout, 1 of the 2 resistors maybe dead, bad/incorrect wiring, badly burnt disc, poor media or failing laser.

Trust me, in my case we can remove the option of badly burnt disc or poor media. Also failing laser because all other backups works fine.

I will probably buy another wiikey and swap it, it's probably like you said a badly assembled/faulty chip board layout or resistors dead, I can't see what else it can be, wiring seems to be fine.

I chipped the one of my friend with an original wiikey last month (in a d2a) and I got it updated fine with my setup discs yesterday.

I bought the wii already chipped because new wii in stores were only D2c and there was no chip avalaible at that time for it, but on their sites they were still having D2b WII with cut leg already chipped, so due to the fact that I was not sure that d2c board were be able to be chipped soon I got the wii from them and I was not equipped to solder a wiikey on a cut pins wii console, for 100$ more I was able to get it already done and not taking the risk of broking a new wii by shaving the top of the chip set.

I did a lot of psx and ps2 modchips in the past I have more than 1000PSX games and 500 PS2 games, so I know how to burn disc or check if soldering is good or bad. so i'am 150% sure that the problem is not on my side.

So instead loosing time of trying to remove it and reprogram it, I will just swap it with an original one and stop wasting my time to find the problem.

I didn't buy it yet and it's not urgent, I will wait for others protected games to come out first... I don't really need Super Mario Galaxy, in fact I don't really need all the games, will not change it until a really want a protected game!

Have you triple checked they have the wiring the right way round on the clipped legs ? find a pic of the chip+traces and install points and check each point is wired to the correct chip leg comparing with the wiikey install diagram.

That site is actually a clone chip site which cloned the wiikey.cn website as well.Â

The component highlighted in the pic is a resistor, and is fine. I think the pic you are looking for is this: http://www.wiikey.cn/images/clones2.jpg

If it is a WiiKey 'clone' then it will have an ATMEGA8 chip. The only difference is the pcb it is sitting on. This is what I am calling a 'true clone'. If it's a different chip then it's not a WiiKey clone.

Yes I checked and compared it to the diagram posted in the previous pages.
