If you want to play Super Mario Maker 2, you need to update your Switch to 7.0.0 or higher. I recommend using ChoiDujourNX to update to 8.1.0.

Edit: You will likely need to update SX OS, too.

ok ty how lol
  1. Download the 8.1.0 update and put it onto your SD card.
  2. Download ChoiDujourNX and put it into the /switch/ folder on your SD card.
  3. I don't use SX OS, but if you're going to use it, download the latest version and put it onto your SD card.
  4. Boot into SX OS.
  5. Load the Homebrew Launcher.
  6. Load ChoiDujourNX.
  7. Install the 8.1.0 update. If your SD card is formatted as exFAT, make sure you install the exFAT version of 8.1.0. If you have AutoRCM installed, make sure you leave the AutoRCM install option checkmarked. If you don't want to use AutoRCM, make sure you remove the AutoRCM install option.
