basically, I have a core i3-3110m (2core, 2.4 GhZ) and I'd like to replace it with an AMD A4-5000 APU. (4core 1.5 GhZ) but I need to know the sockets and all are compatible. anybody know?

Most likely not, if you have a Intel Motherboard then the sockets arent the same as AMD. so if you decide to get a AMD APU then youl have to change the MOBO, and at that point make sure your ram is also compatible with whatever motherboard you get

Last time I know of an AMD and Intel CPU being compatible on the same board was Socket 7 (late 90s).

AFAIK, modern AMD/Intel CPUs are not interchangeable.

These days intel/AMD CPUs will never be interchangeable on the same motherboard. Even if they both somehow used the same pin layout for some future platform, the chipset would be programmed to lock out the competitor's CPU
