Hacking Can I get to the original initial DS screen?

My youngest has a DSTT. The DSTT loads directly into its menu. Is there anyway (via homebrew?) to do download-play or pictochat without removing the cartridge? One of the main reasons I purchased a flashcart for him is to keep him from handling the cartridges. I have even taped the cartridge in to discourage him from removing it and to keep the transflash from flying across the room (it has quite a strong little spring on it!).
