Don't know if anybody has come across this yet but when you're playing an NES Virtual Console game and you hold down L+R, a little image appears in the bottom right on the top screen and it shows 2 NES controllers and the letter Y. And when you hit L+R+Y it switches to the next controller and has the number 2 by it. When it's on the 2nd controller you can't seem to do anything on the 3DS in terms of trying to play the game. What does this mean?

EDIT: Nevermind I'm dumb, it's for use when you select 2 players from the main menu of a game and you need to take turns. Meh.

Try going to the subscreen/inventory in Zelda 1, switching to controller 2, and pressing both Up and A . If it brings up the death screen (continue, save, retry) then you have your answer, it lets you switch the emulated controller to controller 2 (for 2 player turn based games, I guess).
