Going out on a limb here, but if the "insert GW card" is the only check in place, which is also not a secret at all, I think clones will easily be able to bypass it.
I'm happy that there doesn't seem to be dangerous brick code as of yet of course, but I don't believe this will stop clones at all.
Or maybe GW knows that the current clones are obsolete due to the FPGA update so they stopped considering them entirely.

Regardless, I'm still curious about the finer details of the new 2.0, a big thanks to those who are analyzing it, we are all grateful for your contribution.
