I recently got a jailbroken switch and this game is running quite poorly. Only have tried handheld mode
I see a lot of lag, tried turning off motion blur. didnt seem to do much
SD card is something called kootion(128gb) which ive never heard of.

Other games Ive played seem to be running fine
Its a shame since I love Bravely Default and its one of the main reasons I got a Switch

It does. Just download SysCLK and overclock it and problem solved.
Ive heard about that

Im just worried about overlocking and damaging the system
I dont really know much about overlocking. never even overclocked my PC

If its absolutely safe I will do it

It's perfectly fine. The Switch got protections against overheating etc.

ok thanks

Ive just seen some posts on reddit saying it might shorten its life if you overclock it
something about battery life too, which i dont care much about since i almost never take my handheld consoles with me

Well in theory yes. But take for example mining cards. They been touched for hours and still works.

The chip inside the Switch is also underclocked, so its running slower than stock from Nvidia.

Yes overclocking will use more power. Dock it and clock it I say!

If you plan on docking it, just set the oc as high as it'll go.
