    Hello,

I can boot from a usb but when I try to play a disc game, I get a disc read error and the wii shuts off. this includes trying to boot from neogamma.

Do i need to install something to be able to play backed up games or be able to see the title in the disc channel?

    here is my sys check....

Wii Disc drives manufactured after some period between 2008-present are not capable of boot backup discs.

Syscheck shows disc drive date of december 2008, maybe that's the problem.

Guess the only way out is replacing with an earlier model or a hardmod (modchip)

Zerofalcon is correct, your wii's drive is one that cannot play backups of ANY kind, so USB is your only way......

but i have never purposly installed anything to even try and boot a burnt disc. I just followed the modmii tutorial i can do some stuff but i cant boot discs.

If i install darkcorp, is this puposely designed to boot disc backups? I am just apprehensive because it seems like it hasent been updated since 2010. it means its obsolete or it works really well. i would just like someones advice before i wreck something.

    Your not getting it.
You cant install something on your wii that will make it boot any kind of backup disc. Period. Forget it. ( You CAN swap out the drive and install a dvd drive that will boot backups, but now you need to take apart your wii.)
As it is, AGAIN, your Wii's dvd drive is one THAT WILL NEVER EVER PLAY A BACKUP, BURNT, COPIED game or DVD movie.
USB loading is your only option.
Not even darkcorp will save you....
