Mods are closing blog threads because they object to the content, and apparently they're allowed to.

If this is the way it's going to be, maybe they should just shut down the entire blogging area.

Or maybe you should just leave. This is gbatemp, it is not a democracy. And I don't mean to flame but if everyone who thought that "SISTER IZ MAKIN MEH HORNEYZ" was a fine post, would just leave and go to 4chan... I really think we'd all be happier for it. You all could discuss whatever you want and us "prudes" who aren't liberal enough to enjoy incest, well we'd be spared your "progressive" ideas.

People ranting on the internet because their free forum service isn't what they want it to be.
Is that what that the internet is? Maybe we should change our mentalities for you but you should change your mentality for the internet.

I'm glad the post was locked.
This isn't an appropriate forum for his discussion.

HOWEVER,

I'm really glad somebody got a good bit of advice to the guy before the final buzzer.
Nicely done, elenar.

Poor word choice. Also, if you'd take the trouble to re-read my post before you lock this thread, you'll see that my "rant" is about the fact that moderators are breaking the rules as set forth in the guidelines you are referring to.

I've come to the conclusion that the flipside to being able to post what you want in your blog, with very few restrictions, is that moderators have zero restrictions as to what they can do to your blog. Then can lock your thread without you having to break the rules first.

Thanks for the incredibly informative discussion, I've learned something new about GBATemp today: not even the best forum on the internet can escape from asshat moderators.

Uhh...was that suppose to make some sort of sense? Did I miss something?

I'm just saying I don't like the people that act like GBAtemp is a democracy, and anytime there's a "problem" with any part of the forum they should rant about it.

Edit:

@elenar - Even so, it's not polite to complain about a moderator's decision on the public board.
And he closed a distasteful thread, so what?

One final double-post because I remembered something I wanted to say.

I think people (moderators and members) should keep in mind that the Blogging area of GBATemp isn't a gaming forum. It's a weblog forum, which has specifically been stated in the rules as being an off-topic thread section. It's silly to designate it as an off-topic area, and then close threads in that section because they are off-topic. I'm not saying it's morally wrong, or that people shouldn't do it, or anything like that.

I'm saying that it's contradictory and foolish.

Again: The blogging area isn't the NDS area, or the Wii area, or the GBA area. It's the "Talk about whatever you want" area. What's with all the "it's not appropriate" comments, I honestly can't understand them.

Im trying to say the internet is composed of mostly of people ranting. You shouldnt expect people to just stop that because your moderating a free forum. Get use to the fact people will rant.

People can and will bitch about anything ever.
Doesn't mean anyone has to do anything about it

A forum isn't a form of government, so of course it isn't a democracy. It also isn't a monarchy, a fascist state, a theocracy, or a free market. What's the point in saying that?

It is however, as you continue to point out, a public forum. That means that it is made up of a lot of users and a few moderators. The moderators keep the peace (theoretically) while the users discuss things. Without the users, the site would be pointless. So, if moderators want to insist that the users shouldn't have an opinion, you are forgetting that the users opinions are what causes the site to exist. Without the users, would be a nice blank page. Without moderators, there would be a lot of meaningless words that weren't worth reading. Both are necessary. Get over yourself.

elenar, please excuse me for getting so angry at ya.

It really just grinded my gears that disrespectful words were shot another moderator's action (which I should of done in the first place, instead of partaking in the pathetic thread).

Remember guys, it's a free forum and you shouldn't take everything for granted so much (nor should you complain about certain features).

Edit: You make good points, yeah. But users should be thankful for the forum, sure chime in your opinions - but don't complain and mock them! They should be thankful for the oppurtunity to ask questions and get answers, and for all the other information you can find here. You can also enjoy yourself here with the many services we offer, if you go by the rules and aren't disrespectful to others.

I'll say this, and this only:

QUOTE said:
...as long as you stay civil and within the general rules of the forum.
That's the clause at the end of the blog statement in the rules.

One of said forum rules is:
QUOTE said:
All actions, moderation and administration of GBAtemp are decided by the staff only and are not open to debate.

Another is:
QUOTE said:
If you have an issue with a member or moderation decision contact the member in question or a staff member via PM. DO NOT air your grievances publicly in the original topic or otherwise.

Another:
QUOTEAll actions are decided by staff only and once made are not open to public debate.

And finally:
QUOTE
Images or content that the GBAtemp Staff find are too big or that are deemed inappropriate including obscene, pornographic, vulgar and any other distasteful or sexually explicit material will be censored, edited or removed with OR without notice

Topic closed.

Most of the informative parts of the site run on user knowledge, not user opinion.

Of course it's a joke. It's a fricken' blog service on a site made to track handheld game releases.

You know what you're supposed to do with a joke? Just have fun (and I guess laugh at it too =P) with it and roll.

But yeah, there is nothing in the rules that says threads only get trashed if they violate the rules. Mods have a right to trash your thread simply because they don't like you. Don't like it? Feel free to make your own forum.
