Hacking Blackscreen after running gateway hbl?

So I finally decided to make the jump and get an n3DS-XL (got it really cheap 2nd hand). It came with firmware 9.6, so I followed the guides on here to downgrade it to 9.2. The only problem I had when downgrading was that it froze on the "Rebooting in 10 seconds" part - but I hear that isn't a big deal??

I installed menuhax with no problem what so ever. I already own a gateway, I followed their guide and put the gw.3dhx on the sd card inside the gw folder and so forth.

My problem is - whenever I select gateway. Instead of bringing me to the gateway menu - I get a blackscreen? Did I do something wrong, or am I missing something?

If you can, try using the 3dsx of sysupdater again to downgrade, it might fix your problem.
If that doesn't work then I'm not sure, sorry.

Do you have the launcher.dat on the root of your SD card?

Yeah I do. Latest 3.7.1

Don't know what I did, but after repeated attempts I finally got it too boot into the menu and made an emuNAND. Officially working on my new n3DS.
