So yeah, I had Homebrew Channel and all that stuff working until just recently; my sister was checking out our Wi-Fi connectivity since she was having trouble connecting for a decent Mario Kart Wii race (we have figured out that problem; turns out my father's computer is somehow linked to the problem... but that's another story). She sees an update and I think, "We're already at 4.2U, so this must be some other minor update"; thusly, I tell her, "Go ahead sis; it shouldn't matter and it'll keep someone else from doing it when they shouldn't!" Then... my Wii is what I like to call "half-bricked". It runs games and the Homebrew Channel itself just fine, but the Homebrew Browser is the only homebrew app that doesn't freeze; and even THAT doesn't work. I was able to load stuff through Stack Smash, but now my Brawl disc refuses to read at all, compared to the infrequency with which it did; so, that's another plan down the drain. I have a feeling it's an IOS problem since I was able to load through Stack Smash; but now that my Brawl disc doesn't work, I can't even do that.
So what have we learned?
Rule #1 of having Homebrew on your Wii: Never update through Nintendo.
Rule #2 of having Homebrew on your Wii: NEVER UPDATE THROUGH NINTENDO.
Yes, I suppose it could have been worse and my Wii could have been completely bricked and the entire family would have hated me, etc. etc. But please, if there is any way I can get homebrew back, please tell me.
