What's the best wii network media center homebrew currently available?

I'd go for GeeXbox, it has a good graphical interface and plays everything that MPlayerWii plays (and doesn't crash with some of my vids, which MPlayerWii does).

Playing off USB? go for GeeXbox....want wireless samba, mplayerwii

GeeXboX has support for Subtitles while MPlayerWii doesnt I believe.

You also have the ability to move the subtitles up/down so that its positioned correctly on the screen in GeeXbox.

I never really used geexbox because I thought it was ugly. But I've modified it so it looks pretty nice now. Changed the background and fonts.

geexbox is nice but it takes way to long to load and can't be made into a standalone channel .. i like having an MplayerWii channel with wireless SMB ..

and i've never had MplayerWii crash playing from anything besides wireless , everything else works fine.

You can make geexbox into a channel with the forwarder channel. It is the only media player that supports NTFS HDs.

those were the old days of GeeXbox not been able to be injected in a channel, but thanx to Spacy, we have the forwarder's

MPlayerWii. All it needs now it dvd playback.

mplayer wii already does data dvd's... i have my wii sitting right beside my dvd player, so not a big deal for me.

Ok, but still you can have a GeeXboX channel

Even if injecting GeeXboX's boot.elf into a wad would work, you'd still need to have the GEEXBOX folder on the root of sd. So still not standalone (just like MPlayerWii).

Spacejump, MPlayerWii doesn't require the config file, only requires the config file for SMB Samba and PAL widescreen.....also streams if you path any...

otherwise inject the boot.dol? you will have the choice of play from SD, USB, DVD, USB GECKO etc. nothing else, no samba or streams, as it needs SD Cards config..
