Hacking Best backup launcher

Hello,

I have been asked to help someone install a backup launcher. I haven't been paying attention to what is available as I have a chip. Does one need to have Zelda in order to install homebrew and then the loader? She doesn't have Zelda. Secondly, what is the best backup loader available right now?

Yep, you'll need Zelda Twilight Princess (hire it?), and the hacked save game.

Soft Chip is quickly advancing though, for now it runs off the same cIOS as WiiGator's.

Zelda is needed at least once to install the homebrew channel (from there, any other setup can be done via sd card)

Yes, you need Zelda TP to install (via Twilight Hack) the Homebrew Channel, then you don't need it anymore.

I'd say there are a lot of different versions with different compability lists at the moment. As WiiGator works on the Gamma version, there's the open source SoftChip and people compiling fixes for both. There's no such thing as "best launcher" for now, I guess.

Yes you need Zelda in order to install homebrew channel, the best loader right now, are the three of them, install the cIOS_fix_247.wad, install DVDx/advanced/IOS247, and BackupLoader0.1 247, then install the read_retry_cIOS_fix249.dol (or .wad) BackupLoader0.3 IOS249, and SoftChip, wich also uses IOS 249, and you are done..!!

IM going to upload a very basic package when i get home for people who want the very very basic stuff and dont want to leave the SD card after them - just did this on a friends and it all works perfectly using WiiShizzza's latest channel with all the bugfixes and new graphics.

Oh yes, forgot to include she is on PAL and running through a plasma (not sure of cables). 95% of the games are PAL as well. I know how to install the twilight hack as I've done it on my own Wii.
