EA's DICE made a lot of gamers happy today with the announcement of Battlefield 1943. This follow up to IGNPC's Game of the Year for 2002, uses the new Frostbite engine and offers full 24-player support and features three maps from the Pacific campaign: Iwo Jima, Guadalcanal, and the ever-popular Wake Island. Players will be able to engage in team-based infantry combat as either the US Marines or the Imperial Japanese. Players will also be able to take command of a variety of vehicles including tanks and planes. The game will be released this summer on the PC and through Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Store.

. That better be the console version , if the pc version is 24 , or if they don't up it to 64 by the time it comes out , they can piss off. All the pc ones have had 64 players , now it's same game on consoles and pc , suddenly we get downgraded to 24.
