i finally got my DSL ! yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha!
but after first time i charged it and i played today, it was low on battery!
i donno how much i played exactly but its brightness was on max (level4), so i'm a lil scared.
do u guys know how much does DSL last if u use its speakers and max on brightness?
does its speaker consume alot of energy?
thnx!

About 3/4 hours at max.

Tip: If you use headphones, the sound is soooo much better and it consumes way less energy.
You get way harder sound at half the max volume with headphones/earpieces.

I'm sure it's nothing bad!

Good luck,

Q~

I reckon the brightness is more of a problem than the sound. From the instruction manual (page 10):
Maximum brightness: 5-10 hours
Lowest brightness: 15-19 hours.

If you're playing with a flashcart then it might be a bit less.

thnx for quick answers!
which brightness setting do u guys use? 3? (i know it depends on place ur playing, but answer as in average)

squirt1000 can u be more specific? if it lasts like 3,4 hours on LEVEL4 of brightness, how much does it last on Level3?
ppl, tell me ue times! o.O

DS lite battery life per brightness level:
Lowest Brightness: 15-19 hours
Second Brightness: 10-15 hours
Third Brightness: 7-11 hours
Maximum Brightness: 5-8 hours

The lowest number in each category is DS games, highest number is GBA.

DS lite takes 3 hours to charge from a dead battery.

I generally use the 10-15 hour setting (brightness level 2) on my DSlite. I find it sufficient 99% of the time.

Flash carts tend to use 10% more power, so knock 10% off the totals. WiFi will drain the battery faster too....~2-4 hours.

The old style DS (DS1) has a battery life of 6-10 hours with the backlight on and takes 4 hours to charge from a dead battery. I have no clue how long the battery of the DS1 lasts with the light off, since it's nearly impossible to play that way.

The numbers listed assume that the battery is working at full capacity and is not old or worn out. Volume level will also affect the numbers listed.....the higher you set your volume the less battery life you'll get. At medium volume, knock about a half hour off the theoretical maxes.

There is the CORRECT answer to your question. I'm surprised more people don't already know this.

Hope this helps ya!

Setting 2, or 1 if I'm playing in the dark / late at night. I don't get how anyone can use it brighter than that, it's blinding!

It also depends on the game you play, doesn't it? I know when I first got my DSL and R4DS, I was playing Elite Beat Agents and that game destroyed the battery pretty quickly even though I only use brightness level two.

I've wondered if turning the volume level down would affect the battery - sometimes when I'm playing Daigasso Band Brothers, and the battery is running low, the battery level LED will change colour depending on whether any sounds are playing or not.
Sometimes it'll change from to green with the beat of a song!

If this is the first time you have charged your DS, do not worry. The battery life will keep getting better until about 10 charges then start to die after a long time (maybe about 2000 charges)
