So I found out my fiance's switch was banned for no apparent reason today. No explanation at all from Nintendo.

He doesn't pirate, and never has even touched modding when it comes to consoles except the Wii.
He has no chargebacks from Nintendo, and hasn't purchased a game in over a month. The last game he bought was LM3.

So, I'm scratching my head trying to figure out why he has been basically hard banned (No eShop access or access to digital games and his Nintendo account.)

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. But yes, he gets the typical you've been suspended garbage despite never modding or voiding anything in the user agreement. He literally only plays his switch every once in a while, and it's usually BOTW or LM3.

Last edited by Dr.Hacknik,
did he receive an email from nintendo stating that his account was banned?

For science purposes; Is it a gen 1 Switch? As in the ones with the possibility to exploit. Or newer model?
As to what caused it, really no idea.

If this is straight up out of the blue with no 'modding' 'cheating' (i am counting save scumming here) or the like then I would reach out to Nintendo. Because they simply can not ban you for doing nothing that violates there terms of use.

He does indeed have a launch system. Checked the serial, not refurbished. I'll see if he's gotten an email though.

Update: apparently it was a chargeback. He just figured that out

In short; If he did not do anything wrong even with such a device then Nintendo does not have any right to ban you if you did not do anything to violate their terms. They should at least provide you a reason if you inquire about it.

Damn ...still that is quite a thing.
I hope it is something you can get around then ... and it's not a ''superban.

Yeah he's figuring it out now. Apparently it's because he got a chargeback from a 3rd party key site. Like G2A
