Hi,
I'm try to play with my friends to Super Smash Bros Ultimate but were lagging a lot. We have 1Gb/s connection both
our pc is connected by ethernet, we using french servers and we stand 50 centimeters from our internet box. With Mario Kart 8, the game run perfect.
Thx for help.

Sorry for my english, i'm french

wild guess: mario kart uses UDP packets to transmit data. means that its okay if a few packets get lost on the way because the game can interpolate and guess whats happening. its not as important for the game than lets say SSMBU (which i know uses TCP), where every packet of information needs to be preserved to guarantee there is nothing weird happening. thats important because in a game like that, you dont want the game to guess and make inputs for you if a packet gets lost. TCP "waits" for every package from every player. thats why the game lags for everyone if only one person has "bad internet".

with switch lan play, the packets travel from your switch to your router, to your pc, back to your router, through a lot of places on the internet, to the switch-lan-play server, more places on the internet, to your friends router, to his pc, to his router, and then it lands on his switch. thats a long way and his packets also need to travel the same way. it introduces a lot of ping and packet loss opportunities.

you could try to setup a lan-play-server on your or his pc if you know how to port forward and work with nodejs or whatever is used.

not much more that can be done
