Hacking Backup Launcher by Wiigator

Hi guys,

Finally got extractpartition to compile on windows. I had to screw around with the source code a little to fix a few things so that it would compile and run properly on windows. I also added a nice little batch script that will automatically run the executable, and if you are missing one of the keys it will tell you how to (legally) obtain them. All credit goes to wiigator, except the minor changes to the source code, and the batch script. If I get around to it I will compile the new source for linux and make a nice little bash script.

I bought No More Heroes(PAL) some time ago, but I didn't knew until recently, that the PAL version is censored real badly.(No blood whatsoever). I also found out that the NTSC version just has blood and stuff. So I was wondering, if it's possible to run a backup from the NTSC version on a PAL Wii?

Do I have to use any of the special settings you can switch on like Force NTSC for example?

If you're trying to play an NTSC game on a PAL Wii, you'd obviously use one of the PAL Force methods. Not sure which though.. Force NTSC would be for playing games properly on an NTSC system.

Search for WiiFrii; I think that's the name of it and I'll assume the conversions it does will work with the backup loader.

WiiFrii v2.3b but I would try to force PAL it first, if that dont work convert it, wrost thing that will happen is that you will waste 2 dvd and a little of your time.

Well I just tried Force Pal 50, 60 and both gave me only a green screen. So I will try that WiiFrii out now!

use it from the console mate as in load bash and type wine bc-gui.exe
then select the iso otherwise it does error

oh and like i was saying mate i dont use nero either just use what ever is built into your ubuntu and burn the disk mate

Yeah, I ran it from terminal to get some feedback on why it crashes - that's how I found out it needed MSVBM60.DLL but it still crashes with an ActiveX error that gives no output to the terminal so I don't know how to debug it....

About burning: I'm burning to DVD+R so I need to set book type to DVD-ROM which only Nero lets me do (as far as I can see) to K3B let you set this cos I could always install the KDE runtime under Gnome?

No problem. Yeah its the Ben Lloyd one (is there another?), but ive never ran into that problem before. Must have something to do with being run on Ubuntu. May have something to do with .NET framework, will have to check to see if it makes any use of it.

Sorry couldnt be of anymore help, pretty much useless when it comes to Ubuntu, and any other type of Linux OS aswell (exceot yellow dog for the PS3).

Let me know how you get in with mounting it.

No joy mounting - I get errors trying to mount the iso - maybe this will only work under Windows - I've got XP on Virtualbox so I might try sometime. Thanks anyway

If you were using Ubuntu to burn, do not open the ISOs, just have Brasero load them when using Image>Disc and it?l skip the check.

(And use dvd+rw-tools to change booktype if necessary)

mate ive got the NTSC version of No More Heroes on my pal wii and i dont need to change any options, and i didnt use WiiFrii

Have you set the TV type to PAL 60 in the Wii Settings? Then force PAL 60.

Scrubbed ISOs work as normally as regular ISOs. Just got done playing a scrubbed copy of Tomb Raider Anniversary.

I just made a stupid mistake, I used WiiFrii on the Iso, and converted it. Then I burned the unpatched iso on a DVD-R which obviously didn't work with the backup loader. So I'm wondering, if I use the iso patcher on this is it still converted to NTSC?

Well yea you still have to run the backup-creator patch on the WiiFrii-modified ISO. But first, try what seuden said to do: "Have you set the TV type to PAL 60 in the Wii Settings? Then force PAL 60."

i just tested it with mario kart but when i launch the game with backup loader it says a jumbled up (no dvd indicated) its hard to read cause the letters are clustered up. does anobody know how i can fix this error?

Did you install the cIOS wad and the DVDx app properly?

check your brand of DVD-Rs. Once I got a good brand my problems were gone. Also I would like to personal thank everyone involved with this. I been playing SW TFU, and realize that it was something i could wait for. Saving me money right now. To bad this wasn't out before I bought Soul Eater Monotone Princess for 65.00. That game is pretty bad.
