Ha ha ha. I have indeed checked gamefaqs, it was a mess tbh. Back to figuring it the old fashioned way, playing the game. If anyone hears how though, do share.

I read that to unlock him you need to beat the final boss of Subspace Emissary.

you have to press circle, square, trianglex2 and after that hit L2 x3 at the character selection menu

Truth. By the time you have finished SSE, you will have unlocked everyone but three people.

The last three you get for opening your SSE clear data and finding 3 new doors.
