Hacking Any way to delete save files using CFW and Checkpoint?

I apologize if this has been asked before or if I've posted in the wrong place. I'm kinda new to this and I did a ton of Googling without much luck. Is there any way to completely erase a save file from a cartridge using Checkpoint? My specific issue is the common one of owning a used cartridge of Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D. I would love to be able to get rid of the save that is already on there, if that's possible. I have had CFW and Checkpoint for a while but I've not tried to mess with any save files until today. The only thing I can do is backup and restore saves (which I understand is the entire purpose of Checkpoint). Just curious if there is some sort of work-around that I haven't seen.

I've never used JKSM but I am aware of its existence. I'll give that a shot instead. Thanks so much!

Oh wow, I did not realize I could use FBI to delete save data. I did that instead and it totally worked.
