Hey guys i'm new to the rom hacking scene and i hopefully wish to translate some of the super robot wars games for psp (tough task right?). Right now i'm learning about tables and such from the romhacking tutorials. Any tips would be much appreciated!

Also is it a must to know japanese myself to do the rom translations?

Unless you have a team of translators, you're going to need to know Japanese. Even then, I would suggest knowing Japanese just in case, to at least verify that what they're giving you is correct, and not a modified product of Google Translate. Some people like to claim that they know a language, as they then screw a translation through that mess that Google spits out.

To get started. Learn Japanese first.

    Hell.
How do you translate something without knowing the language?
That's like attempting to ride a bike without wheels.
