Hacking Any point in flashing the BIOS?

Hey all, long time no see.

Out of curiosity, if one were to own the CycloDS, much as I do, would there be any utility to flashing the Nintendo DS with a custom firmware?

Short answer: These days, no there is not.

I'll also warn you against doing so, since I screwed up the wi-fi on my last DSlite by using flashme.

As far as I know the only good thing about flashing your DS is the removal of the Health Warning after you turn on your DS.
So Vulpes is right, there's no reason to flash your DS, as the risks outweigh the reward.

Do you find the Health & Safety warning screen annoying? Get ridda that sucka with flashme! It is somewhat risky, but doable. I have successfully flashed my DS Lite.

Hmm. Are the risks of screwing up one's WiFi in the form of probability, or is there some often done mistake with FlashMe which incurs the risk?

Or is FlashMe just a badly written/underdeveloped program?

Darkfader still has it on his site, but he's clearly labelled it as Malware now.

Darkfader's point was that someone (else?) could make something like it and if you didn't install flashme you'd be screwed, but no one but Darkfader has tried that.

You guys are right, there's no reason to install flashme unless you find the health screen really annoying.

EDIT: Just don't download and play any porn programs on your DS and you'll be ok.

I did mine after few practices etc. To remove the health warning.

I proceeded in bricking my friend's later on. so Don't (I repaired my friend's DS lite later on but that needed additional DS bios chip I got handy and some jedi trickery)

Very well, then. The conclusion is that the risks outweigh the puny reward of killing the Health and Safety screen. Folks had best just accept it as part of the "tempo" of starting a DS. Unless someone wants to tackle the project to make the venture a lot less risky/painful. Case dismissed by me, the TC.
