PS1/2 Any major difference between FreeMCBoot and FreeHDBoot for general usage/OPL?

As the title mentioned, are there any major differences between FHDB and FMCB for general usage and OPL aside from using the memory card and HDD for the program?
Currently, I'm using FMCB W/HDD for OPL but I'm wondering if FHDB is just as good since it would mean there's another Memory Card slot to use and I won't be afraid if someone accidentally removes FMCB.

As far as I know, FMCB and FHDB are the same except for the storage location. Some have reported issues with modchip installs, but for most cases, changing to FHDB shouldn't cause any problems

Forgot to ask, do I have to reformat my HDD again or is it OK if I directly install FHDB via HDD raw copy? I've already got tons of games on my HD already and it's gonna be a pain if I have to install them again.

I think you should be able to install it via the FMCB installer, no need to format/reformat the drive
