I really want to put the homebrew channel on our wii, but sadly my father don't think it's a good idea.
I want to know if Nintendo could do something against installing wads and/or homebrew?
Our wii is on internet so my dad thinks that if i install wiiware on the wii nintendo could find out.
Is this true?

PS. We don't have a modchip

No,not yet anyway. So for the time being,it is 99.9% safe(bad wads makes the 0.01%)

its all safe, but if nintendo wanted they could brick your wii for having homebrew, but thats bad for bussiness, so they spend months and month to make sure there patched to block homebrew dont brick wiis.

the problem was not bricking (my dad doesn't know what that is

), but
he thinks nintendo could do something like an IP-ban, so whe won't be able anymore
to surf on the web with the wii etc.

Not a single person has EVER had their Wii blocked by Nintendo. I've Pirated like 100 games and I'm not behind bars am I? Nintendo Channel is the only way they would check what you are playing. Even then, Nintendo channel doesn't chech what you have bought either. The only way they would find out is if they WERE looking all through your Wii.

EDIT: There are about like 500,000 Hacked Wii's... 60 million unhacked ones. What are the ods of them finding yours? lol

its extremely safe at the minute, and if there is a new system update, you will get told what's new because there's a site dedicated to wii, with all this info.

And the vc, wiiware games, and homebrew are all safe. dont worry
(jsut use wads from trusted members and sites). otherwise you'll know about it**

I copied this topic and pasted in word and sending it to my dad, I hope this convinces him. Thank you guys!

If Nintendo really, really wants to they can push out an update that goes through installed titles and reports back. Will they? I seriously doubt it. Any time you implement something like that you run the risk of catching innocent people and alienating your customers.

The only way I could think of is when the Nintendo Channel scans your channels and finds a WAD Manager or Homebrew Channel on it, then maybe they could IP-Ban your Wii, but otherwise, your completely safe. Just don't download the Nintendo Channel / Uninstall it.
