An embarassing Pokemon level-up question...

Essentially, with respect to every Pokemon generation, is there any point in keeping Pokemon at Lv. 50 or should I just go ahead with putting them at Lv. 100? (I mean, should I bother leveling up my Lv. 50Yellow team, Crystal team, Emerald team, and so on...?)

Some games restrict what battles pokémon can participate in by their level, I think Battle tower in Ruby/Sapphire for example, excludes level 51 and above from battle tower level 50.
Later games however temporarily reduce over-levelled pokémon to level 50 without adjusting their movesets.

Because most importantly, a lot of pokémon learn their best moves after level 50.

I do not care about Lv. 50 if there is an Open Level version.
