Just wanted to spread the word, since the Vita scene on here hasn't been maintained as much recently.

This new version does not only remove the Facebook support from the Playstation Vita, but also fixes various amounts of exploits! The first thing that has been patched is the PSPemulator kernel mode exploit, which is required to successfully use an eCFW, such as ARK or TN-V. No kxploit, no eCFW.

Another thing that seems to be fixed is the Custom Bubble Method provided by our good friends Major Tom and Mr.gas, which provided us with fully customizeable Custom Bubbles for devices running firmware 3.55 or below.

    It looks as if the fun killers Sony is finally taking action against the PSP-side kernel exploits. And if you update now, you'll have to buy your PSP games until the next exploit, which will probably be some time now!! ;O;

Even though the new Firmware 3.57 has fixed Tom’s & Mr.gas’ Custom Bubbles, it did not fix Qwikrazor’s Custom Bubbles. While the kernel exploit has been fixed as well, it did not fix our old but trusty VHBL, which enables you to run various Homebrews and some Emulators on your PS Vita.

It looks as if VHBL wasn't patched though, as it doesn't rely on a PSP-side kernel mode exploit to function. So you're still good to go there.

So, as usual, DON'T UPDATE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR ECFW!

I think this image is fairly appropriate:

Classic Sony for you. In addition to "stability", it..removes things instead of making the console more useful and cool. Oh well.

Does the ps vita update by itself like the ps4 does? Im afraid it will take out my TNV emulator.

The Vita only updates on its own if you enabled the Automatic Updates feature. (PS+ exclusive)

And I think there might have been something about connecting with Content Manager triggering an update. Not sure if it's "silent" or if it just asks you to update, though. Either way, it's recommended to use qCMA (or another unofficial content manager) when you're connecting to PC.

Wrong. Some custom bubble methods were patched, but Qwikrazor's method still works. TN-V and ARK don't work even with the bubble because the kernel exploit was patched, but VHBL does not rely on the kernel so it works just fine.

I already have Ark installed on my Vita 3.55 - if I update to the latest firmware, will I be safe?

Gah... Well that sucks. I guess I'll wait a bit before updating. Thanks!

Yeah it's VHBL or nothing isn't it? Really limits what you can do.

I heard that if I use content manager on my ps vita it will cause an automatic update. Is this true? Did someone test it? I want to get more psp game but don''t want to lose the TNV emulator

Nope. It's just an update nag. The Vita doesn't automatically update, I don't think.

Use qCMA. It won't try to update your system and it's functionally pretty much the same.

But as mentioned, I don't think it really updates automatically... But the official CMA won't transfer anything unless you do update, so it's really not even worth trying.

So VHBL can still run on 3.57 but with the catch that the bubble has to be created before it updated. So all that you would need is a friend or someone you know who has a low firmware vita to create a bubble (mimana or fail mail) with ur psn and then save that with qcma. Later disconnect the psn and connect it to yours and restore the save/game and it should allow you to restore to use VHBL?
