Very nice title change, having purchased a dstwo now im still pissed that i have a dead flashcard(my ace3ds) is there anything i can do with it like custom loader etc?

If you don't own a DS phat, lite, or DSi, there is no use to that cart when your 3DS is on version 6, so frankly I don't see the point unless you have one of those >.<

http://gbatemp.net/threads/essentials-homebrew.258689/ is a comprehensive list of DS homebrew - all of them except the Supercard DSTwo should work on your Ace3DS.

As far as custom loaders go, YSMenu in the thread I linked is your best bet. If it isn't in that list, there will probably be a ton of critical issues with it.

It's really sad, and I feel ya bro, on not having a working cart - my Acekard2i is useless to me. I know the feeling. It's not the best of ideas, but I have adjusted to the 3DS side of DS emulation, and I wouldn't go back because it's just more convenient for me.

If you're going to be into the flash cart scene, it's just something we need to deal with. I purchased a launch AK2i - and it had a good run.

So, does anyone know which they class as the "after 5th July" newer ones? Mine is an 002 ace3ds plus version but doesn't work on 6.1

I guess someone would have to play spot the differences and own each hardware revision of the cart if that I'd what you are asking in order to know. When was your order date? It's likely you received old stock.

It should make no difference. Did something go wrong during the update? The official webite says the update is compatible with all versions.

I ordered it on the 9th of July.
Thinking about it more, it probably is older stock as the site I got it from does say it doesn't support 6.1 yet. But, having searched about them before buying I found they can be slow to update the descriptions and things that are in/out of stock, so when I saw the update on the ace site I went ahead and bought it anyway.

I don't think anything went wrong while doing the update and it still works perfectly on my dsi.
I downloaded the firmware and patch, ran the patch while it was in my dsi and was told it went fine (and it now tells me it's not needed if I try to run it again) but my 3ds keeps giving me the usual error.

I have emailed them, will have to wait and see if I get a reply or they post something else on their site.

It's not a big problem as such, I've got a supercard ds two to use, but I was after something simpler and cheaper as a spare. I had a r4i of some version which all the sites told me was supposed to work but none of my systems will even recognise the cart is in the slot, even after cleaning and using the paper trick.

I assure you - your SCDSTwo is a wonderful piece of equipment that will hold up. People are still using their original model from launch, which was a long time ago, and mine is over a year old, still working great.

I hope the Ace team has a response and that they can help you - because it sounds like you did everything right, so I don't know why it's not working.

Maybe it's a problem with the cart itself, who knows.

What I will recommend is the R4i Gold 3DS - because that one is one of the cheaper, more affordable and a little more trustworthy options available right now for lower budgets. With the SCDSTwo, you shouldn't need a backup - but in case you still want one, this cart is great. If you read this whole thread - you'll see how Ace3DS lied about their update - they said it was finished but it was not posted on the website or finished yet, as msansom's email described.

http://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=149 is the one you want - and NDS-Card is our forum's trusted reseller :)

I linked Zhuzhuchina as well - which is a little cheaper. I've ordered 3 carts from them, and never had an issue :)

Oh yeah, I have no worries about the dstwo, I just like to have spares (and sometimes spares for my spares lol) and can't afford another dstwo at the moment. Mine has been going for a while now and I love it. Maybe this is the universe telling me to just save up for another instead of wasting time and money?!

Would be just my luck if it's the cart and not a firmware thing!
I did see about the lie, I should have listened to my gut when I thought the price and reviews were too good to be true! Still, at least it works on the dsi so it's spare for that.

That's the r4i I've got. I've tried it in 2 3ds xl, a dsi, a dsi xl and 2 dsland none of them show it as being inserted! I cleaned the contacts, the ports, did the paper trick to make it fit in tighter but nothing worked.
Got it from a site I've used before and had no problems with but this time they completely let me down. No replies, no refund, nothing. Luckily I got my money back from my bank.

Will bookmark those sites, thanks.

Of course :) It's too bad that your R4 was the same model and not working, or at least you believe it is. If you're just an average user and not completely immersed in the world of flash carts - it's so easy to be fooled by fakes... which site did you purchase from in the past? I'm wondering if your card was fake, and that was the fault of the seller, not you. Also, could you link to the card you purchased off that site? I'm curious.

Glad you got your money back from the bank :)

Hmm... Well some flashcart site was trying to rip people off then because I saw one for 999 on a flashcart site when I was looking for my r4i gold 3ds.

Always use one of these three sites, and you will never be ripped off. If there is an issue - you are able to resolve it with the seller - they are very reputable.

NDS-card.com
zhuzhuchina.com
realhotstuff.hk

Many other sites sell lots of clones and fake flash carts- clearly you don't want these.

They break and they are often unsupported, so if you are a 3DS user, you will not be able to use them with the current system firmware.

Yeah it scared me a bit because I didn't believe it at first because there aren't many thing for 3ds that are 1000 dollars I wish I could remember the site.

http://www.epidigit.com/ but of course it's not on there now, just a couple of others! Grrrrrr. Certainly adds weight to the "it's a fake" theory doesn't it! And still they didn't contact me. Cheeky so and sos.

I'm not completely immersed but I thought I could figure out the fake ones, obviously I put too much trust in the site this time :(

Nothing from the ace team yet, will just have to try and wait patiently lol.

I have no qualms with buying from overseas, I just have to be careful so customs don't sting me. I was lucky enough to get my dstwo from over here before they went all banhammer on the sites.

Yeesh - I don't see it either. I certainly would not trust them - if you need reviews on places to buy, there's always the sites I listed above, and our very own ShopTemp site that has reviews on flash cart sellers. It's linked at the top of this page. ShopTemp used to be a flash cart seller, but they were shut down, and the focus of the website is different. It's more like an index now of information. I don't have qualms of ordering overseas either - I've done it all the time. The truth is - if someone is scammed, it can happen anywhere in this whole wide world. Customs could still get me - but at least I can get my cart if I ensure to them I use it for homebrew and not piracy.

I hope the Ace team responds to your email - and maybe you just got a bad R4i. If you're willing to risk it and toss another $20, it's worth a shot in getting another from either NDS-card, realhotstuff, or zhuzhuchina. If you're feeling really adventurous, toss out $40 instead to get a backup SuperCard DSTwo - because if you regularly make backups, and if the one you're using now ever dies, you could just put the backup on, ensure it is flashed, and it'll be just like your old one!

Nuttyasafruitcak - I just want to make sure my message gets to you XD I didn't quote, so it probably wouldn't have come up in your alerts until I tagged ya.
